Summary
The MEP Project Manager will play an essential role in the construction, coordination, and completion of mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems. This position involves overseeing the planning, design, and implementation of MEP systems to ensure they meet project specifications, budgets, and deadlines. They will serve as a liaison between architects, engineers, contractors and clients. The MEP Project Manager will ensure that all MEP installations are completed to code and operate efficiently as part of the overall building design. The MEP Manager should lead by example and uphold the mission and values of PointOne Data Centers.
Responsibilities & Duties
Project Planning & Design:
· Oversee the planning, design, and implementation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems on construction projects to ensure they meet all requirements, specifications, codes and standards.
· Collaborate with architects, engineers and construction teams to integrate MEP systems into the overall project design, ensuring compatibility and efficiency.
· Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments to identify potential risks and limitations.
· Assists in the design and layout of data center facilities, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Project Implementation & Management:
· Manage project budgets, including estimating costs associated with materials, labor, and MEP equipment, and controlling costs within financial limits.
· Plan and supervise MEP system installations, ensuring work is completed on time, on budget and in accordance with project specifications.
· Facilitate communication between project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and team members, to ensure a clear understanding of MEP requirements and project timelines.
· Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely completion of project milestones.
· Oversee procurement of materials and services, ensuring compliance with project budgets and specifications.
· Monitor and track project progress, identify and mitigate any issues or risks that may arise.
· Cooperate with contractors and suppliers to ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality control measures.
Quality Assurance & Documentation:
· Perform quality inspections of MEP installations to verify that they meet the highest industry standards and comply with all relevant regulations and codes.
· Investigate and implement innovative MEP technologies and sustainable practices to improve project efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and provide customers with state-of-the-art systems.
· Develop and implement quality assurance processes to ensure project specifications are met.
· Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify compliance with industry standards and best practices.
· Prepare and maintain project documents, including progress reports, change requests, and specifications.
Team Leadership & Collaboration:
· Collaborate with project team to complete post-construction reviews and lessons learned.
· Provide guidance and technical support to cross-functional project teams.
· Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment by promoting effective communication and knowledge sharing.
· Serve as a subject matter expert, providing technical expertise and guidance during project meetings and presentations.
Qualifications
· Minimum 8 years professional experience in construction project management including electrical and mechanical expertise.
· Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
· PMP, CPD, or CHD certification.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office.
· Must be self‐motivated and punctual.
· Must be able to manage multiple tasks and have excellent follow up skills both internally and externally.
