UTILITIES MANAGER:
Job Title: Utilities Manager
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: Minimum 5 years
Location: On-Site
Position Summary: The Utilities Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing utility development, and energy acquisition for the company. These activities may include, but are not limited to, electric and gas utility development coordination, and energy supplier coordination. The Utilities Manager will report to the Director of Development.
Utility Infrastructure:
– Manage day-to-day communications with utility infrastructure companies for all company projects.
– Evaluate existing utility infrastructure and coordinating with utility infrastructure companies to understand scope of required utility infrastructure improvements required to support all company projects
– Create and provide utility infrastructure companies with all requested company deliverables including but not limited to load letters, ramp schedules, and company approvals once approved by the Director of Development or other more senior Development team member.
– Coordinate with other relevant internal company departments to provide utility infrastructure companies with requested deliverables on an as-needed basis, for example: site plan, project engineering documents, answers to project related questions, etc.
– Advance utility infrastructure development through to completion of construction.
– Coordinate with internal engineering and construction departments during utility infrastructure development and construction activities to ensure utility infrastructure adheres to internal engineering and construction requirements.
– Research and understanding utility infrastructure development processes, applicable laws, regulations, permitting and entitlement processes.
– Prepare utility infrastructure budgets, and schedules for all company projects
– Coordinating with various company departments regarding utility infrastructure development strategy
Energy Acquisition:
– Manage day-to-day communications with energy supply companies for all company projects.
– Managing energy procurement efforts for all company projects, including leading RFB’s (requests for bids), RFB process management, energy supplier selection and negotiating supplier agreements with support from various stakeholders.
– Provide energy supply companies with all requested company deliverables including but not limited to load letters, ramp schedules, etc.
– Preparing energy budgets and energy models to support overall project development, engineering and sales activities
– Researching and understanding energy procurement processes, costs, rate schedules, applicable rate tariffs, contract structures, laws and regulations, etc.
– Coordinating with various company departments regarding energy acquisition strategy
Qualifications:
– A minimum of 5 years of related experience in managing utility infrastructure development and energy procurement.
– Experience with communicating and coordinating with utility companies and energy companies and other internal and external stakeholders.
– Proven ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization and maintain strong relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
– Strong technical knowledge of utility infrastructure and energy procurement methodologies including but not limited to electric and gas utility and energy
– Proficient use of Microsoft Office products including but not limited to: SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
– Proficient use of: Google Earth, Adobe Acrobat
– Ability and willingness to travel.
– Able to work calmly under stressful situations and in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing deadlines, demands, and priorities.
– Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, keen attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
– Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse collaborators including potential customers and facilitate productive discussions.
– Organization & Time Management – able to plan, schedule, and organize tasks related to the job to achieve goals within or ahead of established time frames.
Education: Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Degree (PEng) or Certified Energy Procurement Professional (CEP) or similar relevant certification preferred.
